This misrecognition had an impact on the futures the teachers envisaged for the girls and on how they constructed their prospects. Schools as the Terrain for Struggles Over Hegemonyh examples can be analysed as indications of the reproduction of the same hegemonic conditions. The idea of a struggle addresses the contingency and potential changeability of conditions, in this case those in schools. This opens up the possibility of considering how schools could be designed so that they promote fewer inequalities.
