Advanced Modeling of Nonuniform Interconnects,ng elsewhere smooth, it is possible to design simple adaptive algorithms based on the use of wavelets as trial and test functions. Adaptivity reduces the number of operations required to compute the solution. Several examples illustrate the behavior of both high-order and adaptive schemes.

Study of Parallel Plane Mode Excitation at a Double-Layer via Interconnect using the FDTD Method,entation of excited modes and the “pinning” effect of bypass capacitors placed close to the via. The power loss associated with parasitic mode excitation will be quantified and ways to reduce it will be discussed. Finally, power and ground plane termination effects, voltage fluctuations and board resonances will be addressed.

Comparisons of RL and RLC Interconnect Models in the Simultaneous Switching Noise Simulations,EPIC and UAEPIC . are able to extract both frequency-independent and frequency-dependent (broadband) models. Some typical package structures were utilized to compare results from the application of the lumped macromodels and the broadband macromodels on SSN simulations.
