A high resolution (25 μm) hybrid selenium/CCD slot scan detector for digital mammographyecially-designed CCDs (charge coupled devices) with a 25-μm pixel pitch. The detector element fill factor approaches 100%. We have produced and are testing CCD structures that utilize both surface and buried channel structures. We are developing selenium blocking layers that are optimized for electron signal transfer to a CCD.
