Unfortunately, the methods so far developed for the determination of CO. bound to hemoglobin as carbaminohemoglobin (carbhemoglobin) are not simple to apply, and this may well explain why only a few papers have appeared in the last few years on this problem.

Since the carbamino derivatives are rarely the dominant form of the total CO. present in a system, they have been intensively studied in relatively few cases whose interest was recognized early (Stadie and O’Brien, 1937; Roughton, 1964).

Facilitated Diffusion of CO2 and Carbonic Anhydrase Activityransport and carbonic anhydrase (CA) activity, the flux was measured using tagged . CO2. The results indicate a constant specific activity for CA over an 80-fold range in concentration extending to 4 mg/ml. Aspects of this study have previously been discussed in Donaldson (1974) and Donaldson and Quinn (1974, 1975).
