The St. Jude Medical Prosthetic Heart Valve: Results from a Five-Year Multicenter Experience,troduced into clinical usage with great enthusiasm. A few, perhaps ten or less, have withstood the test of time, and in looking back, can be judged as milestones in the development of valve replacement therapy. The great majority of designs that failed were unable to pass the test of time which exposed substantial or even fatal flaws.
