Cycle-Resolved Two-Dimensional Laser-Induced Fluorescence Measurements of Fuel/Air Ratio Correlated ility could be determined. At operating conditions resulting in homogeneous and reproducible fuel distributions, only very weak correlations can be found as expected. In these cases the flow velocity close to the spark plug becomes increasingly important.

Flame and Turbulence Interactions in a Four-Stroke SI Enginetry increased correspondingly in the later stages of combustion and increased the ensemble averaged rms of velocity fluctuations in front of flame, especially at locations far from the spark plug; conditional averaging according to the flame arrival at the measuring location reduced this effect considerably.

Suppression of Combustion Oscillation of Premixed Flames by Active Controll using the above signals and a Open-loop active control were studied to suppress combustion oscillations. Based on the results of the experiments, the possibility of suppression of combustion oscillation by a forced oscillation in the upstream feed tube of the facility was suggested.

Combustion Instabilities in Propulsion Systemsombustion instabilities, much is to be gained by treating the various phenomena within a common framework. In that context, the systems are distinguished chiefly by geometry and the kinds of propellants used. On that basis, a general framework can be constructed to serve both practical and theoretical purposes.
