Biological Effects of Acoustic Cavitation,exposures of this kind have caused clear effects, the mechanism of action appears to be related to the phenomenon of cavitation. It now remains to determine whether these observations have relevance for medical practice.

The rapid development and expansion in the use of diagnostic ultrasound has been largely due to the perceived safety and medical benefits of this technology .
