Dramatic Reduction of the Amplitude Noise of Colliding-Pulse-Modelocking Dye Lasershe complex pulse forming mechanisms, the characterization of its amplitude noise has not received much attention. We show in this manuscript that the strong amplitude noise of the CPM laser at frequencies of several MHz can be significantly reduced by simply inserting a single frequency etalon in the cavity of the (argon-ion) pump laser.

Femtosecond Color Center Lasers near 2.8 ,m with HgCdTe Multiple Quantum Well Saturable Absorberained with the NaC1 CCL (1). The NaCl CCL used an InGaAs/InAlAs MQW saturable absorber that has a thermalization time of 200 fs. These results are consistent with the proposal that the pulses are generated by the fast saturable absorption due to the thermalization, through LO phonon collision, of a cold carrier distribution (1).
