In the preface to this book, first published in 1922, Yat-sen Sun posits, “Unless the Chinese question can be settled peacefully, another world war greater and more terrible than the one just past will be inevitable.” In order to solve the “Chinese question,” he suggested that the country’s vast resources be developed internationally under a socialistic scheme, both for the good of the world in general and the Chinese people in particular.
