The Influence of Species and Stocktype Selection on Stand Establishment: an Ecophysiological Perspecains poor for many situations..Physiological and morphological characteristics important for adequate seedling performance under various types of environmental stress are discussed with emphasis on harsh-site reforestation. A conceptual model for the selection of species and stocktypes best adapted to specific site conditions is also presented.

Growth Response and Physiology of Tree Seedlings as Affected by Weed Control woody or herbaceous or both types of competition. Only in recent years have researchers attempted to relate the effects of vegetation management to tree physiology. It appears that in most cases competition results in water being the limiting factor for tree survival and growth.

Interference Between Greenleaf Manzanita (,) and Ponderosa Pine (,)factors since spatial arrangement and total density are held constant and proportion between species is varied. After the first growing season shrubs dramatically inhibited tree growth. Soil moisture was found to be the limiting factor for maximum tree growth when ponderosa pine occurred in association with greenleaf manzanita.
