Pathobiology of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy: Some General Considerations have been described in the literature of the last 100 years under many names, indicating that the neuronal mechanisms are barely understood. Yet it is generally, though not unanimously, agreed that the (efferent) sympathetic nervous system is in some way or another involved in the generation of these pain syndromes.
