Real Time Coupling of Hydrologic and Meteorological Models for Flood Forecastingservations. The nature of the real-time coupling of these stochastic-dynamical hydro-meteorological models is investigated. The cases for which such coupling of meteorological and hydrologic components appears to be most beneficial to flood forecasting are identified. Some promising research areas are also indicated.

The sophistication of model numerical solution techniques is not matched by that of available data provision methodologies or the current understanding of the relevant processes.
