A General Method for Selection Function?Optimization in Genetic Algorithmsm one iteration to the next. Measuring how well a selection mechanism performs is computationally demanding, making its optimization difficult. We apply an additional genetic algorithm to a simplified model to give an approximate optimization for the selection mechanism. In this paper, we detail the general procedure for this optimization.
