Homo- and copolymerization experiments show that the influence of the ester group is mainly given by electronic effects. Anionic Polymerization of 4′-Vinylbenzocrown Ethersn the counter cations and the polymer-bound crown ether ligands. From the dissociation constants and the observed rate constants at different carbanion salt concentrations the ion pair and free ion propagation rate constants for styrene, p-methoxystyrene and 4 -vinylbenzo-15-crown-5 with potassium as counter ion were obtained in THF at -70°C.
