描述In the past few years there has been the increased recognitionthat the effects of oxidative stress are not limited to the damage ofcellular constituents.There is now evidence that reactive oxygenspecies (ROS) can alter cell function by acting upon theintermediates, or second messengers, in signal transductions.Sucheffects on signaling mechanisms probably account for the role ofoxidative stress in inflammation, aging, and cancer. This volumebrings together internationally recognized researchers in both themajor areas covered by the book, oxidative stress and signaltransduction.The work is organized in three sections.The firstdeals with the immediate cellular responses to oxidative stress andthe production of second messengers.The second details theconnection between second messengers and the gene.The third partlooks more closely at the level of the gene.
