Histologic Classification of Ovarian Tumors, tumors based on histogenesis. The histogenetic classification has provided a parameter by which to judge prognosis. Unfortunately, it has not been applicable to all ovarian tumors. Approximately 90% of ovarian carcinomas originate from the epithelial (mesothelial cells) surface of the ovary. These classifications are presented in this chapter.
