Source-Type Representation for Fields in Optical Waveguide Sections and Their Consequences for the Szed by the modal constituents as they are excited by equivalent surface-current distributions located in the end planes of the section. The representation leads in a natural way to orthogonality and completeness relations as well as to the appropriate normalization conditions.

Microwave Approach to Optical Waveguidese published literature, including especially some papers by the present author. Emphasis is laid on the coupled-mode theories early developed in microwave science, which can be profitably borrowed, or extended in a natural way, in structuring an educational scheme for understanding optical waveguides in general, and optical fibers in particular.

Measurement of Chromatic Dispersion in Single Mode Fibres by Incoherent Sources modulated incoherent sources. This technique has been extended in the long wavelength range, thus allowing the accurate determination of the zero chromatic dispersion wavelength in an easy way and with simple instrumentation.

Feasibility and Requirements for Dispersion Compensation in Coherent FOCially enormous information bandwidth. Over long distance, fiber dispersion remains an important factor in limiting the information bandwidth. We discuss in this paper the feasibility of dispersion compensation using a novel optical modulation technique by which either one of the sidebands or the carrier can be suppressed.
