Oxygen Supply to the Fetus and Fetal Hypoxemiane and umbilical circulations. Uptake of oxygen by the fetus at the placental site is related to umbilical-placental blood flow and oxygen content of umbilical venous blood, or. where Inline 1.is umbilical-placental blood flow and Inline 2. umbilical venous oxygen content.

Fetal Breathing Movements in Normoxia and in Hypoxiadle (Windle 1940), with whom I later worked 1958–1965, speculated (Dawes 1968) that the last word on this subject had not yet been said, and was led to restudy the subject in 1969. This pursuit of knowledge has led my colleagues and me a fascinating dance ever since.

Maternal Respiration — Its Effect on the Fetusontact with atmospheric air, its only source of oxygen must be the maternal blood, and oxygen transfer is thus directly proved. This transfer must occur from maternal to fetal blood through the epithel of the chorionic villi.
