Data on the thermal stability, crystallization behavior, and microscopic characterization of selected glass systems and the effects of anion substitution on glass properties are discussed.

Non-destructive Evaluation of Ceramic Surfaces and Sub-surfaces,roscope is discussed and its application is described in general and with specific reference to engineering ceramics. Experiments performed using a prototype microscope on a silicon nitride sample, that contained an open crack in the surface, resolved both this feature and sub-surface lateral cracks that were not evident by surface inspection.
