There is obviously a lot more to be discovered but, for the present, we must be content with the following.

The First Publication,t is not my impression that such discourses were a requirement of acceptance into the Church. Perhaps Gueudeville was invited to make some statement which, on publication, he then augmented and embellished with a variety of digressions, a practice frequently employed by pastors who published their sermons.
