Between the ages of 2–12 months, most adult females display regular estrous cycles of 4- or 5-day duration, and this cyclicity is interrupted by a persistent-diestrous phase when the rat is in gestation, postpartum lactation, or in a pseudopregnant condition.

Relation of the Neuroendocrine System to Development of Prolactin-Secreting Pituitary Tumors,th advancing age, but in human subjects, PRL-secreting pituitary microadenomas occur in young, as well as older individuals, and may increase with aging (Post .., 1980). Whereas macroscopic pituitary tumors appear most frequently in aging rats and mice, such tumors are much less common in human subjects.

Regulation of Thyrotropin Physiology during Aging,n of TSH. It is safe to conclude from all of these observations that age certainly has an influence on the parameters studied, but the information that has thus far emerged from studies in animals and man is incomplete and does not fall into a single pattern.
