The Voltage-Sensitive Sodium Channel from Mammalian Skeletal Muscle,ied on the traditional approach of voltage clamp to describe the kinetics of these sodium currents in large populations of channels in a single fiber (Adrian et al. 1970). More recently patch clamp technology has been used to extend this analysis to the behavior of single sodium channels in their native environment (Sigworth and Neher 1980).
