Implementing HeiTS: Architecture and implementation strategy of the Heidelberg High-Speed Transportg. HeiTS is aimed at a heterogeneous environment comprising several computers with different operating systems and a variety of underlying local, metropolitan, and wide-area networks. It incorporates both end-system and gateway communication functions.

End-to-end synchronization in packet switched networks,ethods, are compared and a specific hardware solution is discussed. Results obtained through a specially designed Simulation Programme are included, for several network time delay jitter distributions and synchronization methods. These results are used to evaluate systems and design parameters.
