Wholeness and Information Processing in Biological Networks: An Algebraic Study of Network Motifsf sheaf. We also formalize a feature of information processing by considering an internal structure of nodes in terms of their information processing ability. We show that two network motifs called bi-fan (BF) and feed-forward loop (FFL) can be obtained by purely algebraic considerations.

Self-organized Spatio-temporal Oscillation Observed in a Chain of Non-oscillatory Cellsthat cellular signal processing and genetic feedback networks manifest themselves as self-excited oscillators. Thus the collective oscillation is obtained from synchronization of a number of autonomous oscillators. In this paper we propose a hypothesis for the occurrence of collective oscillation on a group of non-oscillatory cell.

On Detection and Isolation of Defective Cells in Self-Timed Cellular Automatactive cells can be detected and isolated while computation takes place, i.e., in an on-line manner. We show how to cope with defects in the cellular space in a self-contained way, while a computation task is conducted on it.
