Nanometric Si/C/N Composite Powders Formed by Aerosol — Laser Interactiongon) to 0.35 (under argon + ammonia). The as-formed powders are amorphous and nanosized (<100nm). The effect of heating under nitrogen atmosphere has been studied by various diagnostics (chemical analysis, BET, XRD).

Aerosol Spray Pyrolysis Synthesis Techniques are given. Examples from our work to create complex metal oxides (ferrites and garnets) will be used to show phase and morphology evolution during synthesis. The magnetic properties of these particles are similar to the bulk materials but with variations due to particle size and preparation scheme.

Chemical Synthesis of Nanophase Materialsrse micelle techniques, gas phase aerosol methods, and metal vapor deposition. Nucleation in cold matrices is discussed. Emphasis is placed on chemical reaction stoichiometries, reaction conditions, and isolation techniques. The uses of nanophase materials as novel chemical reagents is considered along with their unusual physical properties.
