Shock Waves and Spallation by Molecular Dynamicsall plane, causing failure of the material. MD spallation calculations have been carried out recently on a massively parallel computer. Parallel computational techniques are discussed, along with some preliminary results for spallation in two-dimensional model materials.

Statistical Mechanics and Kinetic Theory of Lattice Gas Cellular Automatahe non-Galilean factor, for which an exact third order fluctuation formula is derived. The Navier Stokes equation is obtained by applying a Chapman-Enskog type method to the Liouville equation, which results into a Green Kubo formula for the viscosity. Also included is an explicit evaluation of this formula in the Boltzmann approximation.

A Mean Field Theory for Biased Lattice Gas Models. We introduce a factorizability condition, the violation of which gives rise to correlations that are reasonably well predicted by the mean field theory. A more detailed treatment of the subject can be found in [2] and [3].

Fluid Dynamical Limits of Discrete Kinetic Theories physical entropy as it is manifest in Boltzmann’s .-theorem. Formal derivations of generalized compressible Euler systems and generalized incompressible Navier-Stokes systems are indicated. The implications of this analysis for the implementation of fluid simulations is discussed.

Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of High Reynolds Number Fluid Flow in Two Dimensionsansition zones, however, qualitatively different vorticity patterns appear.
