Phosphatic Microfossilss in Paleozoic stratigraphy. The conodont colour alteration index is an indicator of thermal maturity and, hence, useful in basin analysis for hydrocarbon exploration. The morphology of conodonts is explained with illustrations and their paleoecology and geologic history are discussed.
