Immunochemical Identification and Characterization of Membrane Receptors,o purify individual membrane proteins or to produce specific antibodies, because crude protein mixtures can be examined directly by means of polyspecific antisera. The immunochemical recognition of a receptor combined with characterization by physico-chemical techniques then allows the receptor to be characterized in molecular terms.
