TRP Channels and Mechanical Signalsned in 1989 (Montell and Rubin 1989) and was subsequently shown to encode a Ca.-permeable cation channel (Hardie and Minke 1992). Since then, many channels that bear sequence and structural similarities to the . TRP have been cloned from flies, worms, and mammals.

Osteocytes in Mechanosensing: Insights from Mouse Models and Human Patientstudies, however, have started to dig up the molecular and cellular basis of mechanotransduction in living bone. Here we introduce seminal findings from genetically engineered mouse models and osteocyte-ablated mice, and discuss the role of osteocytes in mechanosensing.

Osteoclast Biology and Mechanosensingteoclast adhesion structures, were recently shown to function as mechanosensors. We discuss how Src kinase and Rho family GTPases, which are podosomes constituents, could transduce mechanical signals towards the underlying actomyosin network in the osteoclast.
