The length of the circle,The next lecture was given to an 8th grade class in Paris in Spring 1983. We did the length of the circle, starting with the formula for the area. This method can be used instead of the method followed in “What is pi?” and has the advantage that it adapts easily to find the area of the sphere from the volume of the ball.

The area of the sphere,I had the previous class only for an hour, and so was able to do only the length of the circle with them. But Stephane Brette (14 years old) was visiting from another school, and so we were able to do the area of the sphere together right after the class, by the same method.

Pythagorean triples,The following talk is the first of two given to an 11th grade class in a high school in the suburbs of Toronto in Spring 1982. The students were about 16 years old. The talk lasted about 50 minutes.

Infinities,The following talk is the second given to an 11th grade class in a high school in the suburbs of Toronto in Spring 1982. The talk lasted about 50 minutes. Although the first few minutes are spent discussing a topic extending that of the first talk, I have preserved the timing and balance of the talk intact.

Serge Lang, das erst einmal den Status einer Normalit?t erreicht hat, wird kaum hinterfragt, es bestimmt die Perspektive und falls ein zweiter Blick für notwendig erachtet wird, best?tigt er oft genug den vorangegangenen. Die Geschichte der Bronx – weltweites Synonym für urbanen Verfall – macht nachvollziehba
