Cenozoic Magmatism, Deep Tectonics, and Crustal Deformation in the Aegean Sea,riation in trend from the early Miocene up to the present indicates either the counter-clockwise rotation of ~50° of the Hellenic consuming boundary or the clockwise rotation of the Aegean lithosphere. This simple method based solely on magmatic data verifies similar results obtained from other geophysical and geotectonic observations.
