Protection of Mauna Kea and Haleakala Observatories from Light Pollutionof the population of the state of Hawaii is located, has poorly shielded lighting. Efforts are underway to organize a Hawaii chapter of the International Dark-Sky Association to provide broad-based support for the protection of the skies above Mauna Kea and Haleakala Observatories, and to improve the sky above Honolulu.

Precise Evaluation of Upward Flux from Outdoor Lighting Installationse interior lighting calculation techniques to quantify with a known and high level of accuracy this flux by integrating all the light coming from illuminated outdoor surfaces, taking the incident angles into account. The Photometry Laboratory at the UCV and the Light Pollution Regulations in ChileA brief description of photometric processing for different types of lighting fixtures is given, together with the respective reports and the way they are to be used in the application of the N° 686 regulation. Also methods to adapt regular lighting fixtures will be reviewed under the scope of the light pollution regulation.
