Self-Organization and Spatio-Temporal Chaos in Phase-Locked Semiconductor Laser Arrayschaos. It is shown that laser arrays can be accurately modeled by a set of coupled van der Pol type oscillators. The nonlinearity responsible for both synchronization and instability is the carrier density dependent refractive index. Some experimental results will be presented.
