Water supply and sewage treatment in relation to water quality in Lake McIlwaines: namely, Prince Edward Dam (3000 Ml), Cleveland Dam (910 Ml), Lake McIlwaine (250,000 Ml), Henry Hallam Dam (9200 Ml) and Lake Robertson (490,000 Ml). Of these, Lake McIlwaine is the main source of water supply to the City.

An SEM study of bacteria and Zooplankton food sources in Lake McIlwaineaerl and Shimp (1973) was used in the preparation of algae, bacteria and detritus for examination with the SEM; unfortunately membrane filters were not available at the time of this study (1976) and glass fibre filters were used to mount the material.
