Paradise: The International R&D X.500 Pilotondon (UCL) pioneered work on distributed directories, and in 1988 developed QUIPU, a complete implementation of the X.500 standard. QUIPU was subsequently deployed extensively throughout Europe, North America and Australia to pilot the Directory in operation.
