描述This volume has its origin in the Semigroup Symposium which was organized in connection with the 21st International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics (ICGTMP) at Goslar, Germany, July 16-21, 1996. Just as groups are important tools for the description of reversible physical processes, semigroups are indispensable in the description of irreversible physical processes in which a direction of time is distinguished. There is ample evidence of time asymmetry in the microphysical world. The desire to go beyond the stationary systems has generated much recent effort and discussion regarding the application of semigroups to time-asymmetric processes. The book should be of interest to scientists and graduate students

Quantum stochastic semigroups and their generators,he dilation of the stochastic completely dissipative (CD) equation over the algebra L (H) is described, as well as the unitary quantum stochastic dilation of the subfiltering and contractive flows with unbounded generators is constructed.

Gamow states in a rigged hilbert space,The space of analytical test functions rapidly decreasing on the real axis (i.e: Schwartz test functions on the real axis), is used to construct the Rigged Hilbert Space (RHS) where Resonant Gamow States (GS) are defined starting from Dirac’s formula. It is shown that the expectation value of a self-adjoint operator acting on a GS is real.

The global nature of the arrow of time and the bohm-reichenbach diagram,The importance of the global nature of the arrow of time is shown. Classical Reichenbach diagram and quantum Bohm-Reichenbach diagram, for the universe are introduced. They are used to show the increase of entropy in closed systems, the global nature of the quantum measurement, and the relation among the different arrows of time.
