Atomic effects in ion-atom collisions, problems: (i) The emission of molecular X-rays from quasiatoms which are formed during the collision. The basic experimental and theoretical work on the behaviour of inner-shell electrons in an ion-atom collision is reviewed in [GA 73, KE 73, CR 75]. (ii) The spontaneous production of positrons in over-critical fields of superheavy quasi-atoms.
