However, thebulk of these investments has concentrated on a few economies at theintermediate level of the international income distribution, while thelarge number of low-income countries has been mostly neglected byinternational investors. Starting from these observations,.International Investment, Political Risk, and Growth. analyzesthe potential growth effects of liberalizing investment regimes indeveloping economies and offers an explanation for the apparent biasof private capital flows towards middle-income countries. Itdemonstrates that the removal of investment barriers may liberate aneconomy from a vicious circle of poverty, unproductive saving, and lowgrowth, and presents a novel approach to analyzing the role ofpolitical risk as a major impediment to greater private capitalinflows.
