Book 2000 cover the main parts of the field without being too detailed or too technical. As a matter of fact, we found it somewhat surprising that most--especially newer---books are strongly algorithmically oriented. Graph Theoryical programming in general, the terminology in the field of graphs and networks is not a universally accepted one. In order to make the wide range of books and articles more accessible to the reader, we will—whenever possible—at least mention some of the more frequently used alternative terms even if they are not used in this book.
