Pyrolytic Characteristics of Polysilazanesurations in the amorphous products..Pyrolysis in ammonia results in the elimination of the carbon content regardless of the type and bonding of the polymer’s organic groups. Different chemical mechanisms are responsible for this phenomenon. The carbon removal occurs before the conversion of the organic moieties to inorganic species.

Silane Dehydrocoupling Reactions Catalyzed by the Late Transition Metals contacts from these catalytic mixtures and find that the 4MR are catalysts for the oligomerization. The platinum-silicon 4MR have been fully characterized. The possible involvement of metal disilene complexes in the oligomerization process is discussed.

Linear and Nonlinear Optics in Substituted Polysilanese polymer as a one-dimensional semiconductor quantum wire. The exciton related optical nonlinearities are also large enough to allow polysilanes to be considered for various nonlinear switching applications.

Electronic Structures and Physical Properties of Sigma-Conjugated Polymersof hetero-copolymers of polysilane and poly germane, corresponding to the 1-dimensional superlattice structure, are described. Two-dimensional silicon network polymers are studied theoretically and experimentally.

Ceramic Materials Via Derivatization Reactions of Polymersof the product. This involved the derivatization of preformed polymers of appropriate molecular weight and functionality. Polyethyleneimine, (CH.-CH.-NH)n was derivatized to introduce the -BH., -BH.CN, and -BH.-CH.-NBH functionalities. These materials produced boron nitride upon pyrolysis and could be used to spin-coat a variety of substrates.

Characterization of Polysilanes by UV, GPC and Light-Scatteringts. The second one is the study of the solution properties of that polysilane by LS technique and the last one, the calibration of a UV-.. relationship. The PSi GPC calibration is close to the PS one despite its behavior in solution can be described using a model based on rigid rod-like elements involving about 40 Si atoms.
