Nonblackbody Radiationking it, “black” cloth slightly over 1%, and “black” velvet 0.4%. A fundamental property of a perfectly black body is that its shape, material, and surface characteristics have no bearing whatever on its radiating and absorbing characteristics.

Radiative Heat Exchange in a Nonabsorbing Mediumadiation. In this event the radiation will be nonuniform and anisotropic. It will represent the sum of the thermal radiation emitted by all the bodies. Unlike the case for equilibrium radiation, the radiant emittance will now depend on the properties and temperature of all the bodies and the medium occupying the space between the bodies [1].
