Introduction: Setting the Scene,ch on inclusive education and disability is scarce, and as a consequence very little is known about the participation of some of the most vulnerable children in education within these contexts. The author argues for the need to allow thus far ignored and silenced voices and contexts to be heard.

Inclusion and Disability in the Global South: Lessons Learned and Ways Forward,eptualising . within contexts of the global South and calls for the need to adopt research approaches that are qualitative and flexible, but systematic and reflective. The chapter closes with some specific recommendations for researchers that will also be useful to policy makers and practitioners in the field of inclusive education.

The Interplay of Deafness and Ethnicity in Processes of Identity Development: An Ethnographic Studys such as the lack of a common language between deaf children and hearing parents influenced children’s sense of identity. However, the authors also stress that participants mainly saw their identities as fluid and context-dependent rather than static and non-changing.

The Conceptualisation of Inclusion and Disability in Bhutan,th karma (bad fate). Moreover, they held quite different views as to what inclusion means. The authors call for improved training programmes for teachers on inclusion and disability, as well as programmes to raise awareness in the wider population of Bhutan.
