Numerical Analysis of the Non-Isothermal Flow of a Polymer Melt Around a Cylinder, Galerkin method is used for the advective parts of the constitutive equation, while the streamline upwind Petrov Galerkin method is used to discretize the energy equation. A fully coupled Newton iteration procedure is applied to solve the resulting non-linear set of equations..The material is modelled with a Phan-Thien Tanner model.

The former experiment has been suggested as one that may be able to distinguish the applicability of the pseudo-time idea, but the results given here indicate that the latter may be more appropriate.
