Materials and Physics Aspects of Quantum Heterostructures. The introduction of a heterostructure potential is shown to resuit in fundamental modifications of the materials, leading to prescribed electronic properties. The most extensively studied System of GaAs-AlAs is used for this illustration. Other heterostructure systems are discussed to the extent that they exhibit specific features.
