Obtaining high performance data transmission in the Internet, higher interaction between the transport and the network layers through additional processes and functions. The paper also presents, as an example, a transport layer protocol that shows how to take advantage of the new functionalities provided by the IP‘ nodes.

Characterizing the resource demands of TCP/IP,g an implementation‘s signature is presented. The procedure is non-intrusive and uses measurement tools that are or can be made available in most Unix environments. In this way the procedure can be repeated by analysts on many platforms.

Exploiting massively parallel architectures for the solution of diffusion and propagation problems,an easy way a comprehensive picture of the behaviour of the solution. We present here a computational model applied to two different physical problems; our work demonstrates the effectiveness of the approach and its extensibility to many classes of problems in different fields.
