Carbon Monoxide, (COHb) is produced instead of O.-Hb. The percentage of Hb present as COHb is a measure of exposure and of health risk (oxygen deficiency). Occupational exposure to CO particularly affects those functions which require high O. consumption: the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, and fetal development.
