Measuring the conversion of a chromogenic substrate, 5 and 6 give general observations on the features of the reaction medium that determine the reaction velocity measured. Paragraphs 7 and 8 discuss how the experiments are best carried out in practise.

Basic enzymology, in the reaction medium. Paragraph 11 discusses the information that can be obtained from a reaction going to completion. Active site titration, which is the cornerstone of standardisation in this field is discussed in paragraph 12 whereas the subject of simultaneous reactions, as they often occur in plasma, is treated in the last paragraph.
