Research Priorities and Future Directions,The preceding chapters of this book emphasize how much has been learnt about PTLD in the past few decades. Yet, so much still remains to be learned. Listed below are some of the unanswered questions regarding PTLD. Each of these areas is ripe for future research and gaining new knowledge.

Efficient Threshold Encryption from Lossy Trapdoor Functions,This paper discusses the problem of building secure threshold public key encryption (TPKE) schemes from lossy trapdoor functions, which can in turn be built from a number of assumptions, e.g. lattices. Our methodology is generic and our concrete instantiation is more efficient than previous construction.

XMSS - A Practical Forward Secure Signature Scheme Based on Minimal Security Assumptions,We present the hash-based signature scheme XMSS. It is the first provably (forward) secure and practical signature scheme with minimal security requirements: a pseudorandom and a second preimage resistant (hash) function family. Its signature size is reduced to less than 25% compared to the best provably secure hash based signature scheme.
