Siew-Wan Ohl,Claus-Dieter Ohlce .. His idea was to study the topology of a space using group theory and more generally, algebra. The modern viewpoint is somewhat analogous (in some perspectives, identical) to the study of normal extensions of fields and their associated Galois groups.
