Protein O-GlcNAcylation: Potential Mechanisms for the Regulation of Protein Functionsolic proteins (2,3). Galactosyltransferase labeling of mouse liver nuclei with subsequent analysis by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis and fluorography indicates that a large number of nuclear proteins are modified with O-GlcNAc residues and suggests that O-GlcNAc is as abundant as phosphorylation (4).

Occurrence and Possible Function of Inflammation-Induced Expression of Sialyl Lewis-X on Acute-Phasesis of the glycans in the hepatocytes of the liver appeared to be affected as part of the hepatic acute-phase reaction. Inflammatory cytokines, like IL-6 and IL-lα, and glucocorticoids are involved in the regulation of these processes.
